DrSuzyyHall Bio
I’m Suzanne Hall, MD, a 15 year OB/GYN with Eastside Gynecology Obstetrics, servicing Metro Detroit, on staff at St. John Hospital-Detroit and Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital.
Since the beginning of my medical training, nearly 20 years ago, I've always felt passionately about high quality, competent, compassionate medical care, as well as, patient education and a patient's "right to know." Time constraints, feelings of intimidation or even embarrassment, may limit a patient’s ability to ask or get questions answered during their office visit. Many people head to the internet for answers. In fact, 80% of internet users search for health-related information online.
As physicians, one of our primary roles is as health educators. I began to see social media/blogging as a tool to ‘amplify’ the educational aspects of the physician encounter. If one patient has a question on a health topic…there’s many more out there with similar questions. Why not ‘share’ the answers to those commonly asked questions and our medical expertise, by social media?
This interest in patient education/improved communication sparked my current passion, the use of social/digital media for sharing health-related information, in the area of Women’s Reproductive Health. I share this information via my professional Facebook page, Twitter, and through posts and commentary on our practice’s blog GynoGroupie.com. My colleague and practice partner, Dr. Benjamin Chen and I developed this fun, new, creative, Women’s Health blog to share news/information on various topics in Women’s Health… in simple language, that’s easy for readers to understand. We’re using social media/blogging to offer Women’s Health information that’s accurate, easily accessible, and delivered by the modern digital communications that people both want and need.
Please check out our sites…and Join us in our journey towards improved sharing of Women’s Health information…and hopefully improved health!
