Detroit will once again be the place to be this weekend. With so many things happening this weekend, I had to post about it!
The Woodward Dream Cruise
Classic cars will be once again perusing down Woodward Avenue officially starting this Saturday, but I've seen classic cars on Woodward all this week! In existence for the past 17 years, the Dream Cruise was originally started as a Fundraiser for a Soccer Field.
The cruise now draws over 40,000 Classic Cars from all over the world. Now an annual Event, taking place the 3rd Saturday in August the cruise is Free to all. Each city the cruise passes through host their own unique events. Just a Note: Plan to get there early so you can get a good spot and bring all the things you would bring if you were out on a picnic, including bug spray, chairs and an umbrella, this is Michigan, after-all.
The African American World Festival: Friday August 17-Sun. August 19
The AFW has always been my favorite festival. The music, the vendors and the FOOD! Ahhhhh! It is so amazing and awesome. This year the festival has moved from Hart Plaza to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African History. I guess that is an appropriate Venue for the Festival. They have a plethora of activities people of all Races should enjoy. The city will be closing down surrounding side streets, so get their early parking is sure to be SCARCE.
